I know I've been gone forever, and I'm considering options for remedying that. In the meanwhile, thanks to a tip left on the Small Wonder Reviewed Facebook page, I have learned that next week, Small Wonder returns to the airwaves. I confirmed with tvguide.com, and it's glorious.

Hey-
ReplyDeleteI accidentally stumbled across Antenna TV's airing of the show's first two episodes and, though I was around when it originally aired, I was still in college and what snippets I saw of it struck me as so appallingly bad that I avoided it like unshielded plutonium until today. Spurred by the endless rantings of a close friend who's been obsessed with Small Wonder because he feels it's possible the worst television sitcom of all time, I sat through the first two episodes and was gobsmacked. Truly jaw-dropping in every way.
Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, the one good thing to come out of this show by way of ancillary fallout was the song "I Am Not A (Voice Activated Child Identicon)" by the group Servotron. The band's gimmick was that they were supposed to be a musical group in a future where robots plotted for the violent overthrow and ultimate genocide of the entire human race and nearly all of their songs centered on that theme, often with hilarious results. Now that I've seen SMALL WONDER in a full installment as opposed to mere snippets, this song is waaaaaaay funnier:
